ABOUT

Taiwanese-Canadian Countertenor TIMOTHY WONG obtained his Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto, Canada. During his degree, he also received scholarships to train in young artist programs such as Opera on the Avalon, Opera NUOVA, Centre for Opera Studies in Italy (C.O.S.I), Toronto Summer Opera Workshop, and Summer Opera Lyric Theatre (SOLT). He made his Canadian debut with the role of Ramiro (La finta giardiniera, W.A. Mozart) with the Royal Conservatory of Music, and continued on to perform with Aradia Ensemble, Toronto Masque Theatre, Toronto Bach Festival, and Cantabile Chamber Choir to name a few.


After his European debut at the Berliner Philharmonie as soloist in Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mr. Wong performed across Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and France with ensembles such as Vokalquintett Berlin, Vokalakademie Berlin, Berliner Mozart-Chor, Kammerchor Stuttgart, Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart, and Junge Stuttgarter Bach Ensemble (JSB Ensemble). He has had the privilege to work with world-renown conductors and directors like Kevin Mallon,  Guillermo de Silva, Helmuth Rilling, Frieder Bernius, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Timothy Nelson, and Brian Deedrick.


While offstage, Mr. Wong maintains a busy schedule teaching voice and piano in German, English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. He strongly believes in giving all students the equal opportunity to learn music, and follows the philosophy strictly in his studio.
